Hired by Google

Last month I was hired by Google through the Max Steiner Agency to create the music, sound design and effects for their Celebrating Pizza Google Doodle that will launch on December 6. Google Doodles are special, temporary alterations of Google’s homepage logo’s intended to commemorate holidays, events, achievements, and notable historical figures of particular countries. The first Google Doodle created was the 1998 edition of the famous Burning Man event in the Black Rock desert of Nevada, and was designed by co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin to notify users of their absence in case the servers crashed. Over time, the demand for doodles has risen in the U.S. and internationally. Creating doodles is now the responsibility of a team of talented illustrators (doodlers) and engineers. For them, creating doodles has become a group effort to enliven the Google homepage and bring smiles to the faces of Google users around the world.

  1. Congratulations, Christel! That sounds like a wonderful project. I just got back from Moroco and I am wrapping up my Fall classes so I have been swamped grading and such. I had to get an African chip for my phone and then lost my US and the switch hasn’t been as sooth as I hoped. Art Week Miami started last night. Let me know what your timeline is for the rest of the year and I would love to pick up the thread of our conversation after this next weekend. If you happen to be in town of course I would love to say hello.

Sending you a warm hello from Miami,

    JCZ

  2. Thank you Juan Carlos, it was a wonderful project and I am looking forward for it to be launched! Sounds like you have been busy. I would love to hear about your adventures in Morocco. I almost made it over there years ago, but got stuck in Gibraltar. Long story! It’s about time the world designs global chips, don’t you think? That would make our lives so much easier, wouldn’t it. Art week Miami sounds wonderful and I would love to say hello to you too but due to Covid, I think it is safer to stay put at the moment. And yes to continuing our conversation thread. A warm hello to you too from Sedona! – Christel
