Earlier this week, Santa Fe & Esmeralda – Crossroads received nominations for both Best Story and Best Music at the London Women Film Festival. I’m excited to share that I was awarded Best Music for this debut film, which tells the poignant story of Kita, a young Dutch woman, and Lorenzo, the gay son of a prominent Argentine family. Set against the backdrop of Argentina’s evolving democracy and vibrant art scene from 1987 to 1996, their friendship navigates complex family dynamics and the harsh realities of AIDS.

The recognition from the London Women Film Festival holds special significance for me, as Santa Fe & Esmeralda – Crossroads showcases the music from my upcoming album Nostalgia and marks my debut as both a filmmaker and author.

Santa Fe & Esmeralda – Crossroads is a threefold endeavor that began with the Music Nostalgia, inspired by Argentina—a country I once called home. The completed music then led to the creation of the Book Santa Fe & Esmeralda, which explores Kita and Lorenzo’s powerful friendship in depth.

When the music from my album Nostalgia and my book Santa Fe & Esmeralda came together, they inspired a series of short Films that I refer to as Vignettes, —standalone scenes rich in imagery that capture moments and emotions. These brief, evocative portrayals invite reflection on their themes and enhance the narratives of both my music and storytelling.
