As 2025 comes to a close, I’ve been reflecting on a year that felt both expansive and deeply personal — a year shaped by new music, new stories, and collaborations that reminded me why I make art in the first place.
A Year of New Music
Music remained at the center of everything. Nostalgia carried me back to Argentina and became the foundation of my eleventh album, weaving original compositions with classics by Piazzolla, Yupanqui, and Walsh — urban and rural Argentina rendered in sound.
Alongside Nostalgia, this year also saw the release of Sacred Arias, the ballad Once More, and a Dolby Atmos version of Merope. Each project emerged from a different emotional and sonic landscape — some looking backward, others reaching forward — yet all rooted in the same desire to create work that resonates beyond the moment.
Argentine roots. Sacred spaces. Ballads and ambient drift. Creativity knows no boundaries.
From Music to Story: The Long Arc of a Book
From the music of Nostalgia emerged the story of Kita and Lorenzo — a love shaped by AIDS, loss, survival, and resilience in 1980s–90s Argentina. That story became my completed manuscript, Santa Fe & Esmeralda.
The book is finished and now on its next journey, seeking the right publishing home. My goal for 2026 is to find the partner that can help bring it fully into the world.
Film, Movement, and Collaboration
The music and book also inspired a series of film vignettes, expanding the work into visual storytelling. This year brought five short films to life: Crossroads, Oblivion, The Little Prince, Alazan, and Nostalgia. These films are now entering international festivals and have already begun receiving awards — an unexpected and deeply affirming chapter of the journey.
In 2025, both the music and film premiered at the Sedona Choreography Retreat, where Ballet Arizona’s Nayon Iovino brought the work to life — quite literally — through dance. Having a ballet created to my music was one of the most meaningful experiences of the year, revealing how sound, movement, and story can speak to one another across disciplines.
None of this would have been possible without support. I am deeply thankful to the audiences who listened, watched, and shared the work; to the grant organizations and generous donors who made these projects possible; and to the friends and collaborators whose encouragement, time, and belief carried me through the year.
Looking Ahead
The music is available to stream on most digital platforms, and I look forward to sharing more about the book and films as they continue their journeys. Thank you for being part of this year.
