As a composer and more recently also as author, and filmmaker, I’ve always been drawn to the spaces where disciplines blend — where music speaks in images, where movement tells stories, and where emotion becomes something you can see, hear, and feel. The Sedona Choreography Retreat offered me a rare and beautiful opportunity to bring all these elements together.
For the Sedona choreography retreat, I created a new short film, Santa Fe & Esmeralda – Nostalgia, inspired by two of my recent works: Nostalgia (my eleventh album, launching during the retreat) and Santa Fe & Esmeralda (my upcoming book). The film will premiere as a prelude to Nayon Iovino‘s new choreographic piece. Watching dancers bring my music and visuals to life is an experience that never loses its magic — like seeing a dream take shape in real time. Every frame, every note, every movement combines to build an emotional world that words alone could never fully capture.
More Than Sound: Designing the Vision My role in the retreat, however, extends far beyond the music. As Creative Director, I’ve had the privilege of helping shape the retreat’s identity — not just through sound, but visually and conceptually. I developed the visual branding and designed all graphic elements for both the program and promotional materials, ensuring that every aspect — from print to digital — reflects the artistic spirit and purpose of the event.
With a background in narrative design and storytelling, I approach each project holistically. For me, artistic expression and strategic thinking go hand in hand. It’s deeply rewarding to help unify all of the retreat’s moving parts into a seamless, emotionally resonant experience — one that supports both the artists and the audience in connecting with something meaningful.
Crafting Something That Lasts
My hope for this retreat goes beyond a single performance or moment. Through music, imagery, and story, I’ve worked to help build a foundation — one that can grow into a lasting, evolving tradition. A space where artists are inspired to take risks, and audiences are invited to experience art in ways they never have before.
This isn’t just a gathering of creative minds — it’s the beginning of something larger. A vision for what the arts can become when collaboration, innovation, and imagination are given room to thrive.
Step Into the Imagined If you believe in the transformative power of the arts — if you’ve ever been transported by a piece of music, stirred by a dancer’s movement, or forever changed by a story — then I invite you to join us. Sedona isn’t just a backdrop; it’s a living canvas, ready to hold whatever beauty and wonder we’re brave enough to create.
Tickets are now on sale for all retreat events at Sedona’s Performing Arts Center — including exclusive artist conversations, a behind-the-scenes masterclass, a rare open rehearsal, and the Final Performance on June 20.
Don’t miss your chance to witness this unique convergence of music, movement, and vision in one of the most inspiring settings imaginable.
